This listing is for a True Bullnose™ wool tread we pre-made so we can have a holiday sale! Part of our premium New Zealand Wool collection of True Bullnose™ carpet stair treads! An elegant but affordable alternative to a complete professional runner installation.
These are ready to ship in a width of 27" wide by 10" deep. We made them to fit the most common stair depth which is 10" deep (measured from the back wall of the step to the tip of the bullnose looking straight down at the tape measure -- no need to wrap the tap measure around when measureing because we already added the carpet to cover that). For the thickness, these are made to the most common step thickness of 1" thick or less.
If these Ready To Ship treads do not fit your stairs, do not worry. All our regular listings can be fully customized for depth or thickness.
Prices are for treads individually (per step) so you can order the correct number of treads to match the number of steps you have in your staircase. We have a limited quantity of these made up at this price, so when they are sold out, this offer ends.
The style is called Bristol and it is made by J Mish with Ecco Tex Blend New Zealand Wool. J Mish puts it best: "Bristol is a tailored, European-style ribbed loop, tufted of Ecco Tex wool blend yarn with a medium weight, corded vertical texture. Bristol’s palette of seven warm neutral colors embodies the soft, natural look of newly shorn fleece."
Here is how we do it:
We start with this awesome 100% Wool carpet, cut it down to the correct tread size, seam the boarders, permanently attach our True Bullnose™ rigid edge, and then add a soft, non-scratchy padding to the back. (Padding is now recommended by every carpet manufacturer. It improves the comfort, performance and life of the carpet. We use a 100% post-consumer padding and the best part is we include it at no additional cost!)
We start with this awesome Ecco Tex Blend New Zealand Wool carpet, cut it down to the correct tread size, seam the boarders and then permanently attach our True Bullnose™ rigid edge.
As shown in our Shop, the True Bullnose™ stair tread is permanently attached to a rigid bullnose piece so that when installed it will stay nicely wrapped around your stair tread. Other manufacturers use combinations of tape or glue, and hope that your tread will stay wrapped around the end of your stair tread. Not these. True Bullnose™ treads have a pressure sensitive material that keeps the tread in place and a strong, rigid bullnose edge that keeps the wrap-around in place.
Why Wool? This is answered by the Grower-Owned Wools of New Zealand:
Asthma Safe - Wool has some amazing features built in by nature. Wool textiles act as a natural air filter, trapping allergens such as dust and pollen and keeping them out of the breathing zone
Fire Safe - Wool does not burn until its gets to 700 degrees celcius, even then it self extinguishes once the source of the fire is removed.
Breathe Safe - Wool purifies the air - Wool absorbs indoor contaminants and purifies the air you breathe of harmful gases, locking them away for up to 30 years.
Quiet Spaces - Wool absorbs unwanted noise - Wool textiles absorb noise and create warmth making your home or office the perfect place for relaxation, concentration and play.
Wools of New Zealand is owned by the people who grow our wool, farming families who are committed to sustainable farming practices and caring for the land so that it may be passed to future generations
Every farm is audited by AsureQuality, a New Zealand government owned Conformity Assessment Body, for:
Land Management, Animal Welfare, Social Responsibility and Transparency.
We connect consumers with the people who grow superior wool, doing so ensuring excellence in all aspects of sustainability.
Wools of New Zealand works to understand the needs of our customers so that our growers can prepare the ideal wool fit for the intended value chain and deliver the optimum performance throughout it’s life. Through our supply database we are able to identify which of our growers can best deliver wool to meet the requirements of individual products. By connecting our growers with supply partners we are able to communicate future market requirements to ensure our growers adapt on-farm methods to deliver the ultimate wool.

The stock tread depth is made to fit the most common stair step which is 10" deep and 1" thick, but we can make them more/less deep to fit your needs! If your stairs are more than 1" thick, start a conversation and send us a picture, we may have a different bullnose we can use.
Yes! Make sure your stairs are clean and dry before installing your TrueBullnose™ stair treads.
We have found that the number of steps often varies from house to house. So, we normally sell treads individually so that customers may order the same number of treads as they have steps.
One exception is where you see Boxed sets on clearance. If you're looking for sets of treads at a great price, check out our Open Box listings which offer stylish sets at a reduced price!
Yes! Just start up a conversation to get started and we can work out a custom listing for you.
We also can make custom matching runners and landing rugs. Just let us know what you need!
Custom Treads are perfectly tailored to your specific stairs & measurements! If you ask to consult with us to customize the depth & length of each tread for any single order you are placing, the resulting measurements and customizations MUST BE AGREED UPON IN A CUSTOM ORDER WHICH WE WILL SET UP FOR YOU, are unique to that order, and do not carry over to any other single tread, boxed treads, or custom treads order you may independently place without consulting with us again or directing customization.
If you order standard treads, you will receive standard, not customized treads.

To measure for your topper, you need to find the diameter of your candle in inches.
- Use a ruler and place the part with the scale at the widest outside points of the jar. Then read the ruler by looking straight down.
- If the candle 's diameter is the same or smaller than that of the topper, the topper will work.
- If the candle's diameter is greater than that of the topper, you will need to choose one of our larger sizes or reach out for a custom order.
All the holes on our brackets for 4x4 posts and for 6x6 posts are sized for 1/2" lag bolts unless otherwise specified, but you can use 3/8" if you pick up washers when you get your bolts from your local hardware store.
In the 24 Piece Bracket Set for a Hexagon, there are four brackets at each intersection. One for each of the following: the outside of the horizontal posts; the inside horizontal and attaching to the upright; and a left and right "under-arm" which attach to the upright and one incoming horizontal post on each side.
And, yes, we sell parts of any of our kits. Just message us!
